About Library

Smt. Kamala and Sri.Venkappa M. Agadi College of Engineering and Technology Library named as Prof. Venkata Subba Setti Library and it was established in the year 2003. The Library is housed in a specious building having 800sq.mtrs and has over 28410 volumes related to Science and all branches of Engineering. Library subscribes 8 electronic databases, Viz, IEL Online, Springer, Elsevier Science Direct, Taylor & Francis, ASCE, Pro Quest Engineering, Pro Quest Management and Knimbus Digital Library, Knimbus Remote Access Solution under VTU Consortium. More than 35068 e-Journals, and 36 print National journals and are available to the faculty, students and other users through annual subscription.

The Digital Library is a separate place exclusively devoted for a digital section. It has in housed with 40 independent Desktop Computers with in house Air-condition facilities. A student can browse the internet, listen to and view academic related audio- video. Aside from that, members of the digital library can search the parent library’s OPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) and subscribing electronic databases. The digital library was created with the changing IT environment and the demands of current students in mind.

To support the institution and its stakeholders by providing seamless access to the widest possible spectrum of information resources such as digital, online databases, print and non-print materials relevant to the curricular, informational, and innovative research needs of the academic community.

Mission:

To provide the information which leads to achieve highest academic potential and acquire research skills necessary for lifelong learning. To support teaching faculty and administrative staff and to participate in interactive information exchange within the wider library/educational sector.

OPAC (Online Services):  An online catalog facility is available to users through the internet. The link for accessing our OPAC is (link: http://103.147.112.74:80) Every individual patron has the OPAC account credentials to access their account. The main features of the OPAC are to check the availability of books, self-renewal of borrowed books, online reservations, and online purchase suggestions.

Digital Library Services: Online access to the e-resource portals of Springer, Knimbus, ProQuest, Sententia, Taylor & Francis, NPTEL, and National Digital Library of India. These services are IP enabled and can be accessed anywhere on the campus.

Reference Services: The Library maintains a separate reference collection consisting of encyclopedias, dictionaries, directories, etc. Reference books are marked "R" The Reference Section facility is extended to the students, staff, and faculty of the Institute from 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. on all working days. Readers may approach the Reference Desk for information or any assistance in the use of the Library Collections and services.

Periodical Services: A good number of journals and magazines, both technical and general in nature, are subscribed to library. The latest issues will be displayed as and when received.

Book Bank Services: Eligible students may apply to get an additional 5 books for the entire semester in the Book Bank Section.

Current Awareness Service: In order to keep library users informed about the latest additions, the following are displayed on a regular basis: Recent additions to Books, a list of journals received and displayed on plasma view, announcement of information on national and international conferences and conducting events from the library, etc.

User Awareness Program Services: The library takes an active part in the orientation programme organised by the institute for the benefit of new students at the beginning of the academic year. Any user desiring to know more about library resources and services or to learn how to use a particular resource like OPAC, e-journals, databases, etc. should contact in (Circulation Counter).

Photocopying Services: Today, reprography plays a very important role in the transmission of knowledge within library resources and services. The Reprography Service at the Library helps to preserve rare and special materials and collections from being stolen or mishandled and, therefore, maintains the availability of the resources.

News Paper Clipping: Scanned copies of News, AICTE News, COMEDK, and KEA News will be sent through email and also uploaded on the website.

Special Encouragement for Toppers' Services: Department-wise three students will get extra books for the entire semester to achieve better marks or scores. Golden Member – 1st Topper = 7 + 02 (Syllabus Book + General Book) Silver Member – 2nd Topper = 7 + 02 (Syllabus Book + General Book) Bronze Member – 3rd Topper = 7 + 02 (Syllabus Book + General Book).

  • The library will be kept silent.

  • The use of mobile phones is absolutely banned in the library and reading area. Otherwise, a fine of Rs 100/- would be levied.

  • If the library staff requests it, students must show their ID cards before entering the library to borrow books.

  • Briefcases, bags, and other personal items, including books, must be checked at the baggage claim.

  • Students/staff should not deface, mark, underline, write on, shred, or destroy library publications. Anyone caught doing so will be charged for the replacement of the old material as well as a fine.

  • The library strongly prohibits eating, sleeping, chatting, and conversing loudly with others.
  • Newspapers, magazines, journals, and reference materials shouldn't be utilised outside of the library.

  • Library materials may not be taken outside without permission.

  • The next working day is considered as the due date, if it falls on a holiday.

  • Books will be issued on Id cards.

  • If a book is lost or damaged beyond repair, the person who is responsible must replace it with a new copy at the current price plus handling charges.

  • Barrower cards are not transferrable. If a student is discovered using another student's ID card, he or she would be fined Rs 50.
